A n indispensable companion
on the desert man, the camel has always perform creditably
in war and space. The camel breeding farm is run by the Govt.
and is aimed at breeding camels with superior characteristics,
useful for economy of reign- sturdy, disease resistant and
agile. Hundreds of camels of all ages can be seen here. A
very socially conscious beast, camels have an elaborate
means of communicating with each other.
The farm is unique and only one kind in entire Asia. Timing:
3PM to 5PM
(Note: - Photography is prohibited and closed on Sundays
& Govt. holidays)
Indian Council of Agricultural research of central Goverment
(I.C.A.R.) established the National Research Centre on camel
(N.R.C.C.) in 1975 A.D. and its was set up in Bikaner. (Raj.)
The farm is considered unique int the whole of Asia. In the
beginning it was under the charge of Rajasthan state goverment
but from July 5th, 1984, it has been under the charge of the
central Gaverment of India. Travellers used to enjoy better
facilities when the farm was under the state Gaverment of
Raj. As they were allowed to visit the farm any time of the
say. They were also provieded to travillers and there was
no ban on photography of camels. The prrvious staff was more
positive and cooperative to travellers. Now all tins have
changed. However, travellers may visit this farm during (3.00P.M.
to 5.00P.M.) only.
Through the earlier facilities nave ceased still you will like
the camel breeding farm as you will be able to see herds of
camels (Males, Females and baby camels.)
