Indian Rajasthani Food

Rajasthani people are basically vegetarian. Rajputs eat non-vegetarian food. Even among the Rajputs there were enough royal Kitchens.  Where nothing other than vegetarian meals are cooked.Marwaris however are considered more lavish with the input in their Kitchen. A typical meal for them could consist of pistta-longj served with a glass of milk laced with cream.

It is a picnic meal. It is originated from Jaipur is now the famous food for all.The daal consists of a lentil curry, bati is a round ball of bread baked in charcoal fire with clarified butter within it. Choorma is a sweet dish made of bread bruised with  jlggery or sugar and Desighee. A variety of Batis are being made these days. The food of Rajasthan is as colourful as its people and envoironment. There are not many green vegetable available due to the scarcity of water, the people of Rajasthan cook grain based food. Grains Besan (gram flour) and curd is predominantty used. Traditionally the food is served in Thali & Katoris. Bajra (millet Flour) Roti & Khichra (A dish of porridge mixed with lentlls) are eaten in winter season. It is similar to the most commenly eaten dish called Khichri in other part of India.The difference is here, the porridge replaces the rice as base.
