| Anjuna is
also famous for the Wednesday flea market, a landmark
tradition of Goa tourism. The market has its origins
in foreigners on a Goa holiday selling their possessions
to get money to carry on their travel in Goa or
India, or to get back home. |
|
Till recently Arambol was
a favorite Goa beach for those maverick tourists
for whom a Goa holiday meant non-confirming to
any code-of-conduct, and who found even Anjuna
too constraining. Paradoxically, but logically
it slowly became popular, losing |

Benaulim
Beach |
This fishing
village beach of Goa is the northern end of Calangute
beach, south of Anjuna, the party beach of Goa.
Compared to Calangute, it has more character,
with its scenic beauty enhanced by the creek and
the Retreat House perched on the hill. |

Part of the
main stretch of Southern Beaches of Goa, location
of the most exclusive beach resort hotels in Goa
and India tourism. Less than 2 km south of Colva

Till the mid
90s Calangute (along with the adjoining Baga)
used to be the beach of Goa for hippies,
where ganja, hash and drug-induced merriment personified
the Goa holiday in India experience. For the flower

Chapora
Beach |
This beach of Goa is lesser
developed than the adjoining Sinquerim and a favorite
of the Goa package tour operators. Backed by dunes,
this straight and long Goa beach is home to many
excellent ‘International’ shacks. Its northern
part, near D’Mello’s and Oceanic offers relative
solitary, yet closeness to good food and drink. |

Crouched in the shadow of
a Portuguese fort on the opposite, northern side
of the headland from Vagator, Chapora, 10-km from
Mapusa, is a lot busier than most north coast
villages. Dependent on fishing and boat building,
it has, to a great extent, retained a life of
its own independent of tourism. |

Colva is perhaps the most
loved beach of Goa. Along with Benaulim, it’s
a southern base of for backpackers on a laid-back
Goa holiday due to its blend of beauty, peace

accommodation in Goa. It’s certainly the most
popular beach of south Goa |

Located in Salcete, Majorda

Just to the north of the party
beach of Goa is a fascinating group of small Goa
beaches, more salubrious and laid-back than Anjuna.
Relatively secluded, these are situated on the
crescent shaped Caisua bay, along the Chapora
river basin, in the shadow of the ruins of Chapora
Fort. |
|
7 km south from
the center of Panaji, Vainquinim is known around
the world for Cidade de Goa, one of the best designed,
and leading resort hotels in Goa and India. Such
are its facilities that visitors who enjoy a luxury
Goa holiday in Cidade de Goa always want to come
back for more. |
